The City of Boise and BOMA Idaho honored New Path Community Housing with a 2019 Building Excellence Award for “Excellence in Creative Collaboration” at an award ceremony in downtown Boise on May 16. The building, which opened in 2018, houses 40 apartments for the chronically homeless and is the first building of its kind in Idaho to implement the “Housing First” strategy for combating homelessness. The facility includes on-site rehabilitation services and a live-in manager.
The award was presented to Chad Weltzin, Project Architect for New Path, by Boise mayor Dave Bieter at the event. In his remarks, Mayor Bieter praised the collaborative approach it took to get the project out of the ground, including partnerships with Idaho Health and Welfare, Housing and Urban Development, CATCH, the City of Boise, Pacific West Communities, and Thomas Development Co.
